Everyone at Killarney Celtic FC was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John O’Mahony.
John was a tremendous supporter of our club over many years and was always willing to help promote and highlight the positive work being done in our community. Through his coverage on KillarneyToday.com, he gave Killarney Celtic FC outstanding publicity and helped showcase the achievements of our players, teams and volunteers.
John played a significant role in helping us organise and promote our historic FAI Junior Cup fixture against Sheriff United in 2017, and his support and professionalism were greatly appreciated by all involved. He had a unique ability to know what was happening in his town and was passionate about sharing the stories that mattered to the people of Killarney.
John’s contribution to local journalism, community life and sport will not be forgotten. He was a familiar and respected figure whose presence will be greatly missed.
We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Geraldine, daughter Molly and her partner Joe, his beloved dog Nigel, brother Brian, sisters Joan, Mary and Sheila, sisters-in-law Maryrose O’Mahony, Mary O’Shea and Teresa Hickey, brothers-in-law Jacques Mention, Karl O’Doherty and Francis O’Shea, his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.
