Our girls hit the ground running with an early goal superbly taken by Ali Bowler. Killarney Celtic increased the lead with a superlative long range strike by our defensive lynchpin Sadhbh O’Brien. Kenmare came back into the game and rallied but the Celtic rearguard were steadfast with Keelin O’Shea and Lauren Buckley very solid . 2-0 HT.
In the second half, Sadbh O’Halloran scored a wonderful individual goal with an exquisite lob ,following a defence splitting pass by Michelle O’Connor whose close control and passing was impressive . Sadbh followed this up with a neat finish for the final goal.
On the night, nothing went right for a game Kenmare side but this was a clinical team performance by our Celtic girls to finish the season on a high and this has put us back in the mix for league title .
Our defence was outstanding all through, marshalled by Tara Cronin who was very solid in goal. In midfield, there was great stints by Sadhbh O’ Brien and Niamh Brosnan. Special mention to Olga Kumor our U13 girl who belied her tender years and gave a very mature, controlled performance in the number 8 position. We had a number of outstanding candidates for girl of the match, Lan O Connor was outstanding at centre back, Holly Forrest whose work rate and hard running was brilliant on the right wing, Ali Bowler was a constant threat up front and on the wing with her pace and link up play, but our girl of the match on this occasion was our captain fantastic, Ciara Forde who simply was unbeatable at left back and drove the team forward with surging runs all evening.
