Celtic made the trip to Listowel on a very warm morning. In a tight 1st half both teams played well with Celtic Defence of Jack Galvin, Dylan Brosnan, and Joey Enright solid. In Midfield James Courtney, Conall Favier and Captain Evan Brosnan were getting on a lot of ball and playing some nice passes. Up top Denis Kennealy and Dwayne Koeller were causing the home defence some problems. It was scoreless for the 1st 23mins thanks to some good saves by Donnacha Lynch in he Celtic Goal. The deadlock was broken on 24mins when Listowel struck and their strike finished well giving Donnacha no chance. Our boys were disappointed to concede and the heads dropped a bit. Listowel took full advantage and scored 2 more in quick succession ro leave it 3-0 at the break.
Celtic responded well and with good contributions from Conor Clifford, Jack O’Halloran, Cian O'Donnell and Joey O'Connor we came back into it. The Listowel keeper kept efforts from Dwayne Koeller and Denis Kennelly out and at the other end Donnacha Lynch again showed his worth in goal. We finally pulled one back with 10mins to go when Denis set up Dwayne Koeller who finished with his usual aplomb. The lads tried right to the end but couldn't reduce the deficit. 3 mins of madness cost us in the 1st half.
Our season ends with defeat but the improvement from all the lads is there for all to see. They never give up and probably deserved more from this game. No man of match as they all were all excellent.
