Killarney Celtic Green made the long trip to Rattoo Rovers to play Lb Rovers in the under 10s development league semi final.
In the usual tough conditions in Rattoo this game was always going to be a battle and great credit to the boys, they showed fantastic determination throughout.
Celtic started strong and went close early on with the Lb Rovers keeper making some great saves and eventually took the lead after some great work from Noah Murphy led to Scott O’Sullivan finishing brilliantly into the bottom corner.
Celtic were piling on the pressure with some great football being played despite the conditions.
We took the lead after 20 minutes when Fionn O’Sullivan hammered home a free kick from the edge of the box.
Lb eventually found a footing in the game and went close on two occasions with Max O Reilly making some great saves.
The boys started the second half strong and went close to extending the lead on numerous occasions but the Lb keeper made some fantastic stops.
With ten minutes to go we got another goal. George Burchill was fouled 20 yards out and Fionn OSullivan hammered the resulting free kick into the top corner.
Lb got a late goal but our boys finished strong to hold out for a great victory.
Max O Reilly was fantastic on his debut in goal for us.
The back 2 of Reece O’Donoghue and Callum Foley followed by Dara Meehan were excellent throughout and put a stop to countless Lb attacks.
The midfield of Noah Murphy, George Burchill, Scott O’Sullivan, Cillian Murphy and Donncadh Sheehan O’Sullivan were fantastic throughout, providing cover to our defenders and supporting the attack.
Fionn O’Sullivan and Dylan Moynihan were a constant threat up front,showing well for the ball and pressing the Lb defenders.
