🙍♂️🏆KSBGL U10 Boy’s Cup (2) Semi Final Result after Extra Time and Penalties
🇳🇬U10 Boy’s Hoops 🆚 Dingle Bay Rovers B
Unfortunately our U10 Boy’s Hoops team lost out in the Cup semi final to Dingle Bar Rovers B.
The U10 Hoops hosted Dingle Bay Rovers on a wet evening in Celtic Park. The Hoops dominated the opening half, playing some brilliant, fast-moving soccer, hitting the woodwork, and forcing several saves from the opposition goalkeeper. Despite all the pressure, Celtic were unlucky to concede a goal on the break. They didn’t let their heads drop, continuing to press, and eventually pulled level through an own goal, just as halftime approached.
Dingle Bay Rovers pushed on in the second half, scoring twice to go up. With ten minutes to go, Celtic showed amazing heart and increased the pressure again, with a fine long-range effort from Paddy Lynch and great pressing leading to a goal from Cayden Koeller to level it. Celtic continued to search for the winner and were unlucky not to clinch it in the dying minutes.
In extra time, the game opened up and became end-to-end. The young Celtic legs were tiring, and Dingle looked strong, but the Hoops dug deep once again, showing brilliant attitude. They were arguably the more likely side to grab a winner in the closing stages, but it ended level. Penalties were required to settle the tie, and unfortunately, it wasn’t to be Celtic’s night.
Sean Mannix, Ollie Keogh, and Finn Casey each took a turn in goal and were equally impressive outfield. Paddy Lynch and Cian O’Cleirigh were solid at the back, calmly playing the ball out and launching attack after attack. Dylan Cronin and Joseph Cronin provided great speed, strength, energy, and relentless pressing in the opposition half. The link-up play between the attacking force of Aaron O’Callaghan, Nathan Foley, Conor Buckley, Cayden Koeller, and James Keane was relentless at times and, on another night, would have resulted in more goals.
Man of the Match goes to Paddy Lynch, who marshalled the back line with authority and poise and scored a brilliant goal.
👏A massive shoutout to the bravery of the Celtic penalty takers for stepping up after such effort in normal and extra time. The team as a whole can be very proud of the attitude and skill they have shown throughout this tournament.
👏Thanks to Dingle Bay Rovers for a competitive game, and best of luck to them in the final.
👏Thanks also to Sergi for setting up the pitch and to Tom Kerrisk for refereeing the game.
