A young u10 Hoops side travelled to Cahersiveen to play Iveragh United in the quarter-final of the Cup. It was a tight opening to the game before Celtic broke through, after some good work by Nathan Foley down the left to set up James Keane for a nice finish. Next, James Keane turned provider in similar fashion, this time finished by Cayden Koeller, to send Celtic in up at half-time.
Celtic started well in the second half. Paddy Lynch broke through the Iveragh Utd press with a fine through ball to Nathan Foley, who raced clear to slot home. James Keane secured the win with the goal of the game — a fine finish low into the far corner from an impossible angle. Iveragh Utd got a goal late on from a long-range effort, but Celtic held on to secure a place in the semi-final.
The Celtic back line, comprising Paddy Lynch, Ollie Keogh, Cian O’Cleirigh, Finn Casay, and John Larkin, with Fionn Delany in goal, were solid all game long, not giving away many opportunities. In midfield, Aaron O’Callaghan and Conor Buckley were the engine of the team, covering every blade of grass with massive energy, making the team tick.
