Celtic hosted Camp Juniors in the under 16 Cup semi-final this afternoon at Celtic Park. The division one side accounted for Premier opposition in the previous two rounds and started the game well in what was clearly going to be a footballing contest between two ball playing sides. In the opening 10 minutes Celtic found it hard to get control of the game but already the signs were there of a solid defensive performance and a good transition to attack.
Camps midfield were holding their own in the early exchanges but Celtics midfield of Sean Collins Jack Culloty, James Murphy and Nando Dominguez grew in influence as the game developed while our defensive unit was very solid any time Camp broke through the midfield area. Celtic went ahead after about 20 minutes following some great work by right-winger James Murphy who beat his man to the endline and put in a fizzing cross which Camps keeper couldn't hold under pressure from Samuel Scroope. Sam's effort was turned over the goal line by one of the Camp defenders.
Shortly after although Celtic were starting to dominate phases of the game, Camp came close to an equaliser when a long range shot beat Ryan Lucey and cannoned off the underside of the celtic crossbar with the resulting header also hitting the crossbar on it's way out of play. Celtics defensive trio of Mark Looney Daithi Stack and libero Jack O'Grady, assisted by Sean Horan and Luca Mosca in no form to concede chances to the opposition.
Into the second half Celtic were starting to grow in influence in the game but their second goal came from a period of Camp pressure in the Celtic half, which Celtic cleared to the hard-working Samuel Scroope up front and his clever lateral heel released James Murphy who was still in his own half but using his pace and power James ran all the way to the Camp goal line before crossing in an exquisite ball for Luca Mosca to tap in at the back post.
After this Celtic really started to play some fantastic football - in fact it was probably their best performance of the Year lovely combination plays and setting up great chances and they were a lucky not to extend their lead on a number of occasions.
A third goal finally did come when a delicious true ball was played to Nando Dominguez, who beat the offside trap and ran through and finished exquisitely, securing Celtic's place in the Tucker Kelly under 16 Cup final.
This was a great effort by the whole team - they really played fantastic football and it was a joy to watch that second half.

👏Thanks to a very good Camp team and mgt and to the Ref for contributing to a good sporting game.

👏Thanks to our supporters and our injured players for their support.
All 11 outfield players on the shortlist for MOTM.
James Murphy (RM) with 2 assists gets the nod ahead of the brilliant Sean Collins, Jack Culloty & Samuel Scroope.

👏Well done boys and management
