A tough day at the office. When you're 3-0 down at half time it's going to be an uphill battle after that. Celtic worked hard and managed to pull 2 back but it wasn't enough on the day.
Ferry Rangers got off to an excellent start, they took the lead in the first minute when they worked the ball through a static Celtic defence. They kept the pressure on and shortly after forced an excellent save from Illia Pomishchyk. The home side had a chance to pull level in the 27th minute when Maksym Opala received a pass from Eryk McGrath but his shot went over the crossbar.
The visitors extended their lead soon after when one of their forwards got on the end of a Celtic kick out, he crossed it into the box and forced an OG from the retreating Celtic defence. The visitors had launched another attack almost immediately only to be intercepted superbly by Laurance Phebya.
Just before half time a Ranger player took advantage of a mix up in the Celtic defence and finished well to give a deserved comfortable lead at half time.
Celtic must take credit for the way they took to the field for the second half. There was an immediate improvement in effort and intensity. Unfortunately a few minutes in a Rangers player took advantage of an awkward bounce of the ball and shot low into the net after rounding a defender. Celtic refused to give up and pulled two back when Fionn Murphy finished well from a Culann Cronin assist and Finn Cronin played an excellent ball through for Maksym Opala to chase, Maksym out ran the Tarbert defence and slid it past the keeper.
👏Thanks to Ferry Rangers for a good spirited and challenging game.
