Celtic u12 Hoops travelled to neighbours Mastergeeha this morning. On a perfect day for soccer Celtic started on the front foot. The pace of Cian O'Connell and Dwayne Koeller up front and Denis Kennealy breaking from midfield was causing the home side problems and the pressure paid off on 6mins when Denis Kennealy was played through the middle and he finished smartly. He almost double the lead shortly after but his shot just went wide. At the back Conor Clifford, Jack Galvin and James Courtney were solid and kept Mastergeeha at bay. Evan Brosnan and Jack Halloran were working hard in midfield with Connell Favier pulling the strings. Celtic went 2 up on 18mins when Denis Kennealy burst down the left and his cross was controlled by Cian O Connell and he blasted home. It was 3 on 27mins when Connel played Cian in and his pace took him beyond the last defender and he finished neatly. Joey O'Connor had little to do in goal but did make a smart save when a geeha forward was one on one.
Half Time 0-3.
Geeha came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and within 4 mins reduced the deficit to 3-2 with 2 well taken goals. It was backs to the wall at this stage but Joey Enright marshalled his defence well and coupled with some good saves by Donnacha Lynch who came on at half time, kept our lead intact. It was a hard fought battle to the end but we just held on for the victory.
All the lads played well especially in the 1st half but MOM goes to Denis Kennelly just pipping Cian O'Connell and Connell Favier.
