Celtic U12 Hoops welcomed neighbours Athletic to Celtic Park. Playing with the wind in the 1st half Celtic put Athletic under pressure with Connell Favier rattling the crossbar and Captain Denis Kennelly forcing a great save from the visiting keeper. Celtic were comfortable at the back with keeper Donnacha Lynch having little to do as Kareem Khaleel marshalled his defence expertly with help from Jack O Halloran and Evan Brosnan in the full back positions. Cian O Donnell was busy in midfield and Jack Galvin and Joey Enright were getting on plenty of ball. The half ended scoreless. Athletic caught our boys within 30 seconds of the restart when the ball was played in behind and their striker finished to the net. Celtic battled back and had some good chances but the final pass or finish was lacking. On 43mins James Courtney picked up the ball in midfield and played Cian O Connell through and he finished low to the keepers right. A minute later a great run by Dwayne Koeller down the left created space and his pass met by Cian O'Connell and he again beat the goalkeeper to give us a deserved lead.
We kept on pressing and Dwayne and Cian combined again on 51mins this time Cian finishing with his left foot to complete his hat trick. Athletic pinned us back after that and but for 2 great saves by Joey O Connor they could have got back into the game. They finished stronger forcing a number of corners but Kareem and Joey Enright defended them well and we ran out 3-1 winners.
