🙎♀️KSBGL U13 Girl’s Premier Result & Match Report
🇳🇬U13 Girls 2-0 Castleisland
🇳🇬Goal scorers:
Leah Mannix ⚽️⚽️(2 penalties)
🙎♀️ However player of the match goes to Niamh O Leary whose determination, attitude and workrate were all top rate.
In terrible conditions,Killarney Celtic had to fight extremely hard for a win today.
Despite playing with a gale force wind in the first half the Celtic girls failed to score with Castleisland defending brilliantly fighting tooth and nail for every ball.
Eliza Mosca had a shot saved early on and Leah Mannix had a goal disallowed from an indirect free inside the big box. Also the Castleisland keeper did extremely well from another Mosca shot that went under the keepers legs but somehow managed to stay out.
The second half saw Killarney increase their workrate with Mannix coming deeper into midfield helping Seodhna O’Sullivan and Clodagh O’Connor who also came to the fore.
A foul on Seodhna O’Sullivan got Celtic their first penalty with Leah Mannix slotting it home with cool aplomb.
The second penalty was a fortuitous hand ball committed by an unlucky Castleisland defender.
Again,Mannix dispatched with confidence.
The back four of Aimee Shine,Evelyn Grimes, Brid O’Connor and Nell Casey were solid under pressure especially in the last quarter when the wind really picked up.
As usual Mia Cox worked well down the right and Ava Knee worked bravely up front as a sole striker when introduced.
👏Well done girls and management
