A cracking encounter played on a fantastic surface in Tralee saw Celtic U-13 White face off against Park FC. Killarney started strongly, pushing from the first whistle. However, Park’s defense remained resilient until the 20th minute, when Jace Flynn broke in from the right, weaving past two players before firing past the Park keeper with a brilliant individual effort to give Killarney a 1-0 lead.
The goal sparked Park into life, and they responded quickly with two goals in succession to lead 2-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Celtic pushed relentlessly, creating numerous chances but were repeatedly denied by Park’s solid defense. At the other end, Park posed a constant threat on the break, but Celtic’s backline stood firm to keep them in the game.
The deserved equalizer finally came in the dying minutes of the match. After sustained Celtic pressure, the ball broke to Man of the Match Mark van de Merwe, who unleashed a stunning 30-yard strike into the top-right corner surely a contender for goal of the season—to make it 2-2.
Celtic could have snatched victory in injury time when Eoin Murphy played a beautiful through ball to David Aljibare, who was clear on goal. However, the brilliant Park keeper, who had been outstanding all game, made yet another crucial save to ensure the match ended level.
