A competitive game saw both teams playing the ball along the ground and building out from the back. The first big chance fell to Listowel after just 5 minutes, but an excellent last-ditch tackle from Jamie Downing denied them the opportunity.
Celtic grew into the game, creating several chances, including a Nathan Cronin header that hit the crossbar, while shots from Rowan Murphy and Cathal O’Donovan also came close. The breakthrough finally came after 20 minutes of persistent pressure when Cathal O’Donovan was set free again and calmly slotted home to put Celtic 1-0 up.
Listowel remained a threat on the break, but Celtic doubled their lead just before half-time, thanks to a blistering volley from in-form front man Eoin Murphy, continuing his goal-a-game run.
In the second half, Celtic's back four were rock-solid, and the team continued to dominate.
Further goals from Rowan Murphy, Nathan Cronin, David Ajibare, and a second from Eoin Murphy sealed a comfortable victory.
It was tough to pick a Man of the Match, as so many players performed well, but the nod goes to right-back Mark Van de Merwe, who was outstanding in a backline that has only conceded one goal in three hours of football.
👏Thanks to Listowel for a very sporting game, and to the referee as well.
👏Well done boys & management
