In a desperately tight game,the Killarney Celtic girls got a win in a very wet Celtic park.
Having gone a goal down early in the first half and playing into a wind,the girls struggled against a strong Athletic side.
The work of Evelyn Grimes and Nell Casey in defence and particularly Seodhna O’Sullivan in midfield played key roles in preventing further goals as Celtic soaked up a lot of pressure.
However in the second half the girls were much improved,with Leah Mannix leading the line showing both leadership and skill as she harassed the Athletic players with strong running and deft touches resulting in two goals.
Mia Cox down the right caused the Athletic defenders constant headaches all game as well.
The subs contributed to the victory with Jaylinn O Leary and Ava Knee working hard and showing bravery when needed.
In the last few frantic minutes Eliza Mosca,Imogen Carroll Kelly and Aimee Shine managed to get on the ball successfully ensuring Celtic valuable procession at a critical time in the match.
