Killarney Celtic came out the right side of an absorbing contest against a superb organised St. Brendan’s Park side at Celtic Park this evening.
The opening goal came midway in first half from a great through ball by Sadbh O’ Halloran to Holly Forrest on her debut who finished brilliantly. Park dominated possession and got an equaliser through a long range free kick to leave it 1-1 HT.
Killarney Celtic pressed much better in 2nd half. Tara Cronin clearances and presence in goal a steadying influence. Amelia Carroll Kelly and Michelle O’Connor getting on top in the middle of the field , creating several chances , and from a long raking ball by Ellen Allman , Ali Bowler got inside Park defence to lob keeper excellently with 15mins left to take the lead. Celtic closed out game following great pressure from Sadbh O’ Halloran who rounded keeper to leave final score 3-1.
This was a solid squad effort all 14 girls performing well after a rusty first quarter.
Special mention to debutants Holly Forrest and Charlotte Dsyilova , and Puttanya Ryan who played brilliantly when introduced at right back in first half.
All the girls upped their game in 2nd half but over the duration of the game Ellen Allman, and Lauren Buckley were outstanding in defence. Sadbh O’Halloran and Holly Forrest power and pace were a constant threat upfront.
