Celtic emerged from Fossa to go into the semi final of the Healy family Cup with a shootout win over local rivals MEK.
Games between the sides are always close affairs.
Credit to the fitness levels of the players tonight.
It finished nil-nil at the half time break with no clear cut chances for either team.
Both defenses were working hard at nullifying each other.
MEK took an early lead in the second half with a goalmouth scramble after an initial shot seemed to have been dealt with.
Celtic were playing well in response and Jack Culloty’s long range shot beat MEK’s keeper for a leveller.
Celtic created a number of chances with Kiernan Kelly, Samuel Scroope and Dara Horan going close. MEK got a good goal.
The lads fought hard to get back in the tie and an excellent strike from Ignacy Truchan was just reward for his efforts.
It finished 2:2 and extra time couldn't separate them with Celtic’s best chance falling to Kiernan and long range frees from Luke O’Shea and Luca Mosca.
Celtic took the lead with Jack Grady after MEK missed first penalty.
MEK scored their third kick and Jack Culloty’s 3rd for Celtic had enough pace to beat the MEK keeper.
MEK scored their 4th with a nice strike before Mark Looney slotted home Celtic’s 4th.
MEK needed to score to force the pressure on Celtic but James Murphy made a great stop to ensure Celtic advance.
