In a tough physical encounter the Celtic girls fought back to level,having gone 1-0 down early in the first half.

Athletic dominated the first half and went ahead with an excellent strike.

Aimee Shine and Evelyn Grimes absorbed alot of pressure at the back but never lost their composure. Olga Kumor in goals was solid throughout and is improving with every game.

Leah Mannix and Niamh O’Leary worked hard up front with Niamh chasing and tackling her heart out all through the first half.

Seondha O’Sullivan was tremendous in her work rate all through with her never say die attitude keeping Athletic at bay when the Celtic girls were under a lot of pressure.

The second half was a different story with Celtic in the ascendency. Brid O’Connor especially came to fore in the second half and was a real thorn in the oppositions side with her physicality and strong tackling.

But it was the Leah Mannix who scored with an excellent solo effort,running from the halfway line while being harassed on both sides by uncompromising Athletic defenders. Her goal was a mix of determination and class that was a joy to behold. Indeed Celtic could have snatched victory when Leah Mannix again ran from midfield only for the Athletic’s keeper to pull off an top class save.

Both teams remain unbeaten in the league.
