On a wet afternoon in Tralee,the U17 girls ran out deserved winners in a tough and physical encounter against LB Rovers.

A strong defence led by Clodagh Moriarty and an equally strong midfield led by Abbie Finnan gave Killarney the platform for some lovely passages of play.

Sarah Cooper was to the fore in this regard with intelligent passes all through the first half.

Casey Mulry held the ball up well in attack and was unlucky not to score with a header from a corner at the end of the first half.

Amelia Carroll Kelly and Hannah Casey kept LB on the back foot down the wings with Hannah having a decent shot saved again towards the end of the first half.

Celtic started the second half quickly and were soon in front when Michelle O’Connor passed two opponents to give Ali Bowler a tap in goal.

Ali hit the crossbar soon after when her pace took her clear of the LB defence.

Michelle was fouled in the box in the closing minutes and put the penalty away with confidence.
