Celtic faced a strong Limerick outfit in the u15 Cup but can consider themselves unlucky to not be in Round 4 after taking the game to Aisling.
The Limerick premier team took a fortunate lead when an innocuous looking shot spun off Ryan Lucey and into his net.
Celtic rallied well and even playing into the wind the lads created the bulk of the chances.
James Murphy was flying on the right side of midfield and twice went close to levelling matters after linking up well with Jack Culloty & Samuel Scroope.
Samuel was unlucky not to get a penalty.
Samuel was doubly unlucky not to equalise and also had a great effort saved after good work by Ryan Downing and Dara Horan down the left.
Celtic continued to create chances in the second half but the loss of James Murphy to a toe injury took one our most impactful players out of the game.
A lovely move led to a fully deserved equaliser for Celtic. Samuel Scroope was well setup by passes from Luca and Ignacy and finished cooly to the bottom left.
Celtic went close on a couple of occasions to taking the lead before Aisling crafted a goal against the run of play with a low delivery that agonisingly went beyond 3 Celtic Defenders before being turned in at the back post.
Immediately from the restart Celtic almost levelled - a deep ball from Jack Grady was pounced on by Ignacy Truchan who beat the advancing keeper but a covering defender cleared it off the line.
Celtic went close on a number of occasions in the last quarter- Mark Looney with a great header from a Luke O Shea corner went inches outside the post and free kicks from long range by Luke and Luca Mosca both fell kindly for the Aisling keeper.
Celtic battled to the end to the credit of the lads.
MOTM was Daithi Stack who was cool and assured at Centre Half.
James Murphy and Sean Collins also had great games.
Capt was Jack OGrady.
All 15 boys got game time and put a great effort in. We are very proud of them.
👏Thanks to new ref Mark Dineen for officiating and best of luck to Aisling Annacotty AFC in the Cup.
