Celtic U12 Green team entertained St. Brendan’s Park A team today at Celtic Park. In glorious conditions for the first game of the season. Celtic started the brightest and played the ball well across the pitch.

Evan O’Donoghue and Paul McGrath working very well on the right side of the pitch, with James Brosnan and Cillian Scannell linking well on the left side.

For the dominance that Celtic has they couldn’t find an opening in the first 15 minutes of play.

Conor Doherty was excellent in the middle. He broke up play and sprayed the ball around.

Sean Doyle and Jack Kissane didn’t give the Park defence time to settle on the ball and forced a good few turnovers.

The goal came mid-way through the first half, great ball into Cillian Scannell, his shot was superably saved, Jack Kissane followed up on the rebound and again a great save and the ball fell to an rushing Conor Doherty to tuck away. Celtic lead 1 – 0 at half time.

Park started the second half well and had Celtic on the back foot, Cillian Daly was excellent in the center of the defence. Kyle Fleming and Fionn Culloty linked excellently on the left and JJ Landers was super in breaking up the play. Dylan McCarthy made some excellent runs and unlucky not to score.

Tiernan Cronin (Debut season in goal) didn’t have much to do but when called upon he did everything perfect.

Celtic got the all important second with 10 minutes left, Conor Doherty with a cool finish. A great start to the season for this U12 team, they play excellent and Conor Doherty was Man of the match.
