In an epic contest Killarney Celtic came out the wrong side of a 1-2 scoreline after ET in Celtic Park this evening, sometimes sport can be cruel.
Killarney Celtic played some lovely football in a dominant first half performance as Michelle O’Connor and Sadbh O’Halloran power and pace caused havoc on the flanks supported by Ali Bowler hard runs as lone striker( had 3 markers on her !) with skilful passing and link up play from our midfield trio of Amelia Carroll Kelly, Lan O' Connor & Ella Murphy
but we left a hatful of scoring chances behind 0-0 HT.
Celtic deservedly took the lead early in the 2nd half through an Ali Bowler strike, but Celtic faded down the closing stretch as Park FC passing game and bench had an impact although it was an unfortunate own goal from corner kick that made it 1-1 at full time. Nessa Kirby with a fabulous long strike put Park up in first half of extra time and though Killarney Celtic tried hard to bitter end an equaliser eluded them.
👏Congrats to Park FC who are a fine side and best of luck in final.
We are very proud of our girls squad who put in an unbelievable effort and died with their boots on. Our best performers on the evening were Tara Cronin who was solid in goal and kick outs brilliant , Lan O' Connor who put in a great shift in midfield , Ella Murphy whose touch and link up play was superb, but our girl of the match was Ciara Forde who gave a defensive masterclass as anyone privileged to be present to watch will attest.
